Latvia’s Food Union reveals over 50 summer ice cream treats

Latvian-headquartered ice cream business Food Union has unveiled a major summer campaign with the release of 55 new seasonal products that have been timed to make the most of warmer months across Europe, writes Neill Barston.

The company’s latest releases across six EU markets have reportedly taken into account local preferences, as well as honing in on a key trend for healthy indulgence and lighter options that consumers have continued to indicate a strong preference towards.

This includes a number of low fat and sugar options, as well as delivering vegan-friendly sorbets, in addition to adult-themed, alcohol-flavoured ice creams to further bolster its portfolio across the region.

According to the business, salted caramels and nuts remain popular for their soothing flavours, and classic favourites make a nostalgic return, ensuring there’s something for everyone in Food Union’s diverse and exciting 2024 lineup.

Artūrs Čirjevskis, CEO of Food Union in Europe welcomed the broad new array of products. He said;“From surprisingly innovative to recognisable classics, from rich in cream to refreshingly lean and vegan-friendly, from juicy and fruity to creamy and crunchy – is how this year’s summer is going to taste when it comes to quality indulging frozen treat in form of 55 novel ice cream products prepared by Food Union R&D and marketing team to be distributed in total of 6 home markets – Latvia, Estonia, Lithuania, Denmark, Norway and Romania,”

Introducing new novelties
Significantly, as the business noted, the trend towards lighter ice creams with low sugar and low fat is driven by increasing health consciousness, dietary trends favouring low-carb and low-fat options, improved nutritional label transparency, and innovations in food technology that allow for healthier alternatives without compromising taste.
