Major 75th anniversary marked for Lindt & Sprüngli’s Lindor brand

Swiss chocolatier Lindt & Sprüngli is marking a major milestone with the 75th anniversary of its flagship Lindor brand, which has operated as a cornerstone of its operations in delivering premium chocolate ranges for a global marketplace, reports Neill Barston.

With the company debuting the series back in 1949, it has gone from strength to strength, in enjoying success around the world, despite ongoing supply chain challenges that have dented wider sales of luxury confectionery ranges amid steep hikes in cocoa prices in core West African producing nations within the past two years.

The brand has gained recognition for its smooth melting centres and fine craftsmanship from the Lindt Master Chocolatier, with the company becoming renowned for its seasonal Easter and Christmas screen advertising campaigns that have led its promotion down the decades.

To mark the occasion, the business is running a national competition to giveaway over £600,000 worth of prizes, with thousands of prizes to be won across the promotional period. Not only that, Lindt will also be running a prize draw competition, for the chance to win a luxury trip for two to Zurich, Switzerland, which includes a deluxe tour to the Lindt Home of Chocolate.

A spokesperson from Lindt says: “Our 75th anniversary is not just a celebration of our past, but a toast to the future.” They continue: “We’re incredibly grateful to our loyal customers who have made LINDOR a part of their special moments over the decades. We look forward to many more years of bringing moments of bliss and indulgence to chocolate lovers around the world.”

Intriguing history
As the company noted, the brand become a near instant hit for the business, with Lindor combining the French word for gold (‘or’) with Lindt to epitomise the finest smooth melting chocolate. The signature lace pattern on the front of the Lindor packaging was first introduced in 1962. Inspired by the famous St. Gallen lace, the pattern references a sense of luxury, skill and refinement, whilst staying true to Swiss heritage. It has remained a hallmark to this day, visually demonstrating a promise to maintain the highest quality in everything LINDOR creates.

As a seasonal treat for Christmas in 1969 – almost 20 years after the recipe was invented – Lindt began selling their renowned LINDOR chocolate as round truffles in red wrappers to resemble Christmas baubles. With a smooth hard outer shell and creamy melt-in-your-mouth filling, that has remained as its core feature.
