Cocoa price crisis sparks creation of Henley Bridge supplied alternative flavouring option

British-based ingredients supplier Henley Bridge has claimed significant potential with a fresh industry solution in response to recent major rises in cocoa prices that will enable manufacturers to reduce levels of the key ingredient without compromising on taste, writes Neill Barston.
As previously reported, industry observers have expressed considerable concern has costs of cocoa have surged to around $12,000 a tonne last month, though have eased off slightly, but remain well above costs of just two years ago.
In response, according to Henley Bridge business, Prova Gourmet Natural Cocoa Flavouring can cut cocoa powder content by 30% and replacing with just 1% of the cocoa flavouring, results in a 20% reduction in cocoa cost.
